If you have a chip or bull’s eye crack in your car window, it’s wise to have it repaired. This prevents the chip from cracking further. Temperature differences, as well as driving over a speed bump, can enlarge a chip. For example, wen cold air conditioner blows on a windshield that has been in the blazing sun for hours. Conversely, defrosting a frozen windshield with warm water can cause it to crack. Scraping the windshield in winter can also make a chip larger. If there’s a crack, the window needs to be replaced.

Since the chip is filled with resin, it will always remain slightly visible. Usually, this is minimal and won’t bother you. A chip repair is often done within an hour.
